This Website
Welcome! This site is less a traditional portfolio and more a "hall of fame" for my work. There’s a lot here—the good, the bad, and the experiments in between. It serves three main purposes:
To give potential clients, partners, or friends a clear sense of what I’m capable of—whether you’re here to hire me, admire me, or judge me.
To organize my projects in a way that makes sharing them simple.
To reflect on my journey and see how far I’ve come.
About Me
Here’s the rundown on my career, editing style, and what you’ll find here:
Based in Charlotte, NC.
Video editor and director with over a decade of experience freelancing.
My career started in political media—I know how the sausage is made. If you’re curious about my take, ask me over a beer. Just don’t assume my stance from my work; creativity transcends bias… or at least that is what I tell myself.
Recipient of a national Emmy for Trans-Media Sports Coverage as an editor for Fox Sports during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Experience spans sports broadcasting, commercials for brands big and small, political campaigns, reality TV, and most recently, short films.
I have diverse editing skills but gravitate toward trailer-style pieces, story driven features, and I love a good comedic spot.
First freelance pay check (April 2016) - First Emmy (August 2018)
Career Philosophy
Like your typical millennial, I grew up loving Shrek. In a particular scene, Donkey asks Shrek why he didn’t handle a situation like the ogre he is. Shrek replies, “Ogres are like onions—they have layers!” A simple, obvious idea I use to push my creativity and storytelling.
Great stories, like onions (and ogres), have layers. They’re built on memories, emotions, and perspectives, all stacked to create something meaningful and real. To me, good filmmaking is about how far you're willing to cut into the onion, no matter how much it makes you cry. Whether it’s a technical detail, a subtle metaphor, or a perfectly timed sequence. Each layer adds depth and is worth exploring for the audience’s sake.
People will say they love what they do in this industry, but fail to mention the suffering that it takes to create something not just amazing… but often times, just “air-able.” (Depending on the circumstances). What we do is hard and often overlooked. Suffering for the art is part of the process. There are a million angles to approach a story, the challenge is finding the best view offering the best experience. This requires a certain level of integrity, the ability to leave your ego at the door, a dash of insanity, and the ability grind like crazy. What we do does not save the world, yet we (sometimes) get payed handsomely for it. It’s quite simply a privilege, that’s why passion, curiosity, and excellence are baseline. At the end of the day, those are the type of people I want to be with, peeling the onion layer by layer.
